Jane is an employment law attorney representing employers, executives, and employees in Virginia, Washington, DC, and nationwide in sensitive and complex workplace matters.
An employment lawyer, transactional attorney, litigator, and investigator for more than thirty years, Jane has represented clients before the EEOC and in federal and state court in matters involving discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, wage and hour violations, breaches of employment and non-competition agreements, defamation, and business torts. She is a zealous advocate in the courtroom who is equally focused on achieving meaningful resolution outside of it.
Jane’s counseling is informed by decades of litigation and investigative experience, allowing her to provide pragmatic advice focused on risk management and cost-effective conflict resolution. She regularly advises large and small employers and executives in the Greater Washington area, Fauquier and Loudoun Counties, and the Shenandoah Valley on terminations, leave and accommodation issues, wage and hour compliance, and workplace policies. She also drafts, reviews, and negotiates executive employment agreements, equity and incentive agreements, restrictive covenants, and separation and severance agreements.
Jane also conducts and oversees internal workplace investigations, having led hundreds of complex investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, embezzlement, and other misconduct. She prepares neutral, objective reports, presents her findings to leadership, and has testified regarding her conclusions. She has also been engaged as an expert on conducting prompt, thorough, and unbiased investigations.
In addition to her legal practice, Jane offers executive coaching, drawing on her first-hand knowledge of organizational behavior and human resource management to guide executives through challenging periods in their careers. She is also an engaging speaker who regularly trains management and staff on workplace civility, discrimination, and harassment, and provides one-on-one remediation counseling.
Guided by a simple motto—analyze and empathize—Jane recognizes that careers, reputations, livelihoods, and investments are at stake in every employment matter. Her creative and positive strategies are designed to reduce conflict and efficiently resolve sensitive disputes, whether through negotiation, litigation, or investigation.
