Vasseghi Law Group (VLG), a business and employment firm in Fairfax, Virginia, has hired Toby Latham as counsel. Toby joins VLG after more than a decade of public service with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Through his work in various roles at the NLRB—including senior counsel to previous Board members and chairs, detailee in the Office of Representation Appeals, and assistant chief counsel to a Board member—Toby gained invaluable experience with procedure and precedent under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Toby is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section and the Development of the Law Under the NLRA Committee, which recently tasked him to update a section of the leading treatise on private-sector labor law.
“We are thrilled to have Toby join VLG,” said VLG founder Roya Vasseghi. “Toby brings with him a wealth of experience from the NLRB. Our employer and employee clients who rely on us for counsel on all aspects of employment law can now look forward to benefiting from Toby’s counsel on labor law matters. We also look forward to supporting Toby in his disability-policy work.”
Toby is well known in his community for advocating for and with people with disabilities, especially those in the public school system. He served several years on Fairfax County School Board’s Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities, and he helped establish the Fairfax County Special Education Parent Teacher Association (PTA). In addition, Toby currently serves as a board member at The Arc of Northern Virginia and as an officer in the PTA at his son’s elementary school.
“I am excited about joining Vasseghi Law Group,” said Latham. “I believe wholeheartedly that when employees are treated fairly, whether by their employer or by their chosen bargaining representative, we all benefit. Similarly, I think our community is stronger when people with disabilities, and people in other marginalized groups, are provided the supports, services, and resources they need to bring their authentic self to all places. I joined Roya and her team because I saw these values reflected in the firm’s work.”
Prior to law school, Toby handled personnel matters as a human resources representative for a Virginia-based Fortune 500 company. He also served in the Army, deploying to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Toby received his Juris Doctor, with a concentration in labor and employment law, from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. He grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.
Established in 2020, Vasseghi Law Group is a woman-owned law firm serving clients in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
